Ever since I started co-hosting the Press for Champagne podcast I have been discovering new cocktails made with champagne. So far, one of my all time favorites has been this strawberry cocktail. Strawberry Champagne Tequila Fizz may sound intimidating but it’s actually to die for!
My co-host, Brandi, picks the recipes each week so it’s always a surprise for me to find out what we are drinking. Before starting this podcast, I wasn’t an avid champagne drinker. So don’t let the champagne part of this cocktail deter you from giving it a try. I promise you that you won’t regret it!
You can listen to our reactions after trying this champagne cocktail for the first time!
How to Make a Strawberry Champagne Tequila Fizz
One of the key ingredients to this strawberry champagne cocktail is sliced jalapenos. If you’re not a jalapeno lover you may be tempted to skip over this ingredient, which is fine, but I urge you to at least try it with the jalapenos first! They just add something to the cocktail that brings all of the flavors together.
Ingredients
1/3 Cup Chopped Strawberries
1 teaspoon Sugar
2 oz. Tequila
4 oz. Chilled Dry or Semi-Dry Champagne
Thinly Sliced Jalapeño for Garnish (Remove seeds from jalapeno to take away the spiciness if desired.)
Directions
Chop the Strawberries and Mix with Sugar
Let sit for about 5 minutes
Add tequila and muddle the shit out of it
Add an ice cube and shake it up well (Shake the cocktail BEFORE adding the champagne, trust me!)
Pour it evenly into 2 champagne coupe glasses
Then top each glass off with champagne and drop in a sliced jalapeno before serving!
I like to imagine that I am enjoying this refreshing strawberry summer drink on a patio overlooking the water somewhere beautiful. In reality, I’m drinking it in my backyard, but that’s fine too! Once you’ve tried this recipe you have to let me know what your thoughts are!
Enjoy!
